What is it: A traditional cocktail prepared with rum, lime juice, and sugar, almost similar to Brazil’s national drink Caipirinha. Regardless it was a really unique experience and we had a enjoyable evening. The cave was devoid of any ventilation and got extremely hot as the night went on. It was about 95% Cubans which I think is a change compared to pre-covid times. The club has a power generator so when the power went out the show still went on.ĭespite a slow start the club rapidly picked up atmosphere and was pumping by about midnight. The cuba libres were more like rums on the rocks with a dash of cola. Drinks inside the club (beers and rum based drinks) where 250 CUP. There was the odd (usually young and attractive) person who managed to skirt the cover charge, as is typical in any nightclub anywhere in the world. At the time we visited I noted a lot of the Cubans were also being charged 350CUP so I don’t think it was a gringo tax. But I would suggest bringing a copy of your passport if you’re on the younger side to avoid problems. This is perhaps, because I look 100 years old. They did check ID for most people but didnt bother with us. It’s a uneven surface and poorly lit so I would recommend wearing heels.Įntry to the club was 350CUP and you were given a receipt that you could redeem for a drink at the bar. It does at times feel a little sketchy as you approach the cave but we did manage to walk home at 0300am without troubles. You can walk here from town and on the way you will pass a few makeshift bars offering pre-drinks. Located at the top of Los Cuevas (the hill overlooking the town) this is a nightclub that has been set up inside an actual cave. This is one of those tripadvisor listings that should probably be in the ‘things to do’ rather than in ‘nightlife’ as the experience was just so unique and enjoyable. ![]()
